Why Acorn?

When it came to creating a name for my new Pilates business I deliberated for months but nothing sounded right. Then I glanced at my car and house keys and the small wooden acorn charm on the keyring....and that was it! Acorn Pilates and Equipilates™ was created.

'Great oaks from little acorns grow'

This proverb stretches all the way back to the 14th Century and is probably even older. I think this is great analogy for Pilates because through regular dedicated practise you can grow strong, tall and mighty!

An acorn metaphor can remind us to look deep inside and discover the seed of something wonderful that is yet to develop. It will take time, persistence and the right nurturing, but something magnificent is waiting inside that precious little acorn. One little acorn, with time, can also be the start of a whole forest of mighty oak trees.

Acorns are also considered to be a lucky symbol, representing prosperity, youthfulness, power and spiritual growth.

And not forgetting the keyring...

This was given to me by a special person who I was very lucky to share my Pilates teacher training journey with. She gave each of us in our little group an acorn just before we took our practical teaching exams. So not only does the name Acorn symbolise the strength and growth I hope I can help my clients achieve, it also has it's roots in the start my growth and journey as a Pilates teacher. Thank you Ceris.
